This was the first race last year where the team really started coming on. They ran top 3 easily the entire day, but late race pit sequences cost them more than just a few positions and left the team 7th. This is the track at which Brian and Juan have the most time working together. 4 races plus 2 All-Star showdowns as well as two big tests. I think this is the best shot at the "W" so far this year. And I beleive that even more now after watching that car this past weekend, that thins was "BAD FAST!" _________________ Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. |

Well I assume Brian wasn't planning on bringing #906 out for the 600...
Car should be quick but last year's 600 was the only decent finish Juan has ever had at Charlotte...it's been his bogey track.
As you say, the 600 last year was the point where we first saw the sort of pace that has now become customary, I can still remember Brian almost incredulously saying "fastest car" lap after lap. Conversely the Chase race there saw the beginning of this horrible run where it's seemingly either been top-5 or bottom-5 every week. It will probably be the same deal this week... |

Well Im sure Brian felt there was a high chance of the car getting wreck on All star Saturday since everyone is soo aggresive. Im sure he had a 600 car on the side ready with the same setup as the one for this weekeend were he looked so fast. Juan staying out of trouble is always a huge if, but if he does we have our best chance so far to win after Atlanta. Expect Juan to wear out the outside line. |

Almost every team will bring a differnt car to the 600 than they ran in the All-Star race. The turnaround is almost too fast to use the same car in both. The only team that pulled it off last year was Denny Hamlin's. And they weren't particularly good in either event. _________________ Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. |

TV Alert! JPM's going to be on "NASCAR Race Hub" this week. Just not sure when. Saw it scrolling at the bottom of the screen watching Wind Tunnel.
And he did get mentioned on Wind Tunnel when Robin Miller was on. Robin said he and Tony Stewart would have to go on diets to fit back into IndyCars. _________________

I gotta agree, doing both races the same day would be tremendous, physically demanding, and winning both of them would be extraterrestrial. On the other side, Smoke and Juancho, as well as Sam Hornish, who has yet to win in Cup, are the only men who went there and can reiterate the deal.
2.000 grands is a lot of money but it is more of an announcement than anything else IMO.
Cheers buddies,

Yes, Juan himself said he would need to lose about 15 pounds from where he is now to fit into an indycar. He was also quick to point out he hasn't won on a NASCAR oval yet. They were discussing this during the All-Star practice, and they all came to the conclusion that Juan would have the best shot at it. _________________ Never take life seriously. Juan's tweet today was interesting to say the least!

At least they got the gear problem out of the way before Sonoma! And for gods sake, can someone tell Ambrose when its a race and when its not? _________________ Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. |

Oh dear....well hopefully that's also got the Ambrose run-in out of the way as well. Not good to lose the running time as arguably the road course cars were the weakest in the shop last year, Juan was really hanging on in the last stints at both Sonoma and the Glen.
As an aside, I expect Ambrose to be even more of a bull in a china shop on the road courses since he's having a similar kinda year to Juan. |

I would not be opposed to giving a spot up to Ambrose late in the race, because, as we've seen the past two years, he's willing to spin anyone for a win at any time, even when running outside the top 20. _________________ Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. |

| MAGIC! wrote: | Juan Pablo Montoya and No. 42 Target Team
MEDIA ALERT: Juan Pablo Montoya will be available at the No. 42 Target hauler for a brief media Q&A session on Saturday, May 29th at 11:00 a.m. (ET)
Reflecting on the ‘Monster Mile’: Juan Pablo Montoya and Team Target struggled to hit their stride in their last point’s race at Dover International Speedway. Handling caused concern from the start of the track activities on Friday and come Sunday things went from bad to worse. An incident on pit road and then a broken track bar mount with less than 150 laps to go, forced Montoya to the garage. Despite a valiant effort by the crew to the fix the car, Team Target wasn’t able to recover and had to settle for a 35th-place finish.
All-Star Recap: Juan Pablo Montoya and the No. 42 team was fastest in the sole practice held Friday afternoon and looked to have the pole for the Sprint Showdown event before rain moved into the area cancelling qualifying with just four cars remaining. With qualifying cancelled the field was set by the qualifying draw placing Montoya in the 14th position. Montoya was fast from the start breaking into the top-10 within the first five laps. The No. 42 Target Chevrolet looked to be one of the top contenders to race into the Sprint All-Star Race before an on-track altercation on lap 16 ended the teams night early, forcing a 27th place finish.
Charlotte History: Montoya will be making his seventh Sprint Cup start at Charlotte Motor Speedway in this weekend’s Coca-Cola 600. His career best was in this race last year, starting eighth and finishing ninth.
Target Race Carts Return to the Track: The new Target At-Track Mobile Series will make their second appearance at a NASCAR race this weekend during the Coca-Cola 600. The Target Race Carts demonstrate the unique nature of the Target Racing program and also showcase its valued sponsor partners. The focal point of the program includes customized, completely operational and oversized Target Race Carts patterned after Target shopping carts. Trained Target street teams will drive and accompany these race cart vehicles at Charlotte Motor Speedway Thursday through Sunday. They will distribute samples and coupon books with an estimated value of $60 for brands including: Glad, Energizer, Breathe Right, Gillette, Air Wick, Nicorette, Armor All, Kleenex and TUMS.
Target Race Cart Fun Facts:
• One of the Target Race Cart baskets can hold 32 gallon jugs of milk, 192 loaves of bread and 256 cartons of eggs...and a pack of gum.
• They can also hold:
o 16,666 10-packs of Energizer Batteries.
o Over 3.8 million Glad ForceFlex Trash Bags.
o And over 792,529 samples of Gillette Body Wash.
Happy Anniversary: This weekend marks the two-year anniversary for Juan Pablo Montoya and Crew Chief Brian Pattie. The pairing first came together for the 2008 Coca-Cola 600. Of the 61 races together, the duo has two pole award, 12 top-five, 25 top-10 and seven top-15 finishes. This weekend will also be the 10-year anniversary of Juan Pablo Montoya winning the Indianapolis 500 in his first and only start. He led 167 of the 200 laps on the way to a dominating victory.
Good Luck Target: This Sunday Target will take on 1,100 miles of auto racing. Target will take the first 500 miles with teammates Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon in the Indianapolis 500 and then continue 600 more with Juan Pablo Montoya at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Coca-Cola 600. Dario Franchitti will start on the front row in third and Scott Dixon will start sixth at Indianapolis while Juan Pablo Montoya will make his fourth start in the Coca-Cola 600. All three Target drivers are past winners of the Indy 500 – Dixon (2008), Franchitti (2007) and Montoya (2000), making Chip Ganassi the only owner to have three Indy 500 winners actively racing and one of two owners to have cars in both races.
In the Points: The No. 42 team is 19th in the overall NSCS driver point standings, 112 points away from the top 12– the cutoff to the Chase.
CHASSIS INFO
No. 42 Target Chevrolet (NSCS): Chassis #1003. Crew Chief Brian Pattie elected to bring a brand new chassis #1003 to Charlotte Motor Speedway. |
YAY! NEW CAR!!! And this is the track Chip has the most NASCAR wins at... One with Marlin, and one with McMurray. _________________ Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. |

I like FOX more than ESPN. DW is ok, the ESPN crew is so dry and boring... The TNT 6 pack is my favourite time of year, they don't feel the need to be talking constantly. _________________ Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. |
