I don't think she'll do that well but because the field isn't as strong in NW I don't think she'll do horrifically, especially with a Hendrick car.
I think she would have got eaten alive by diving straight into Cup; Hornish and Dario are better Indycar drivers than Danica, and neither has shone - she would have probably lasted 5 races maximum. Dario though looked much better in the Nationwide races he did, so I think it's a sensible move by Danica to start off there, it should be possible for her to get a few decent finishes. |

Do you think Susie Stoddart could beat her in a Mud Wrestle... I don't know either.. but I'd sure watch to find out!!!
Seriously though... Ignore the hype, judge her on her talent... behind the wheel. See how she does.. it's not like there aren't any other highly marketable drivers behind the wheel of Hendrick Motorsport cars that don't seem to be turning in the results... <cough>dale</cough> |

Well after her stock car debut in the Daytona ARCA race last night I have to say, I think she did well.
Clean and tight racing, avoided trouble reasonably well - except for getting a nudge from Piquet Jr., she demonstrated some good skills not to hit anything during the spin that followed, and came back well towards the end of the race - though she should have stayed on the yellow line at the end, she moved out of line and went nowhere, no biggy though. |

Yeah, i gotta say i was pretty impressed with her debut. She did seem to struggle staying in line down on the yellow towards the end but a great effort and some great car control to keep it out of the wall. _________________

Danica did well, particularly not to wreck after Piquet (who looked even worse than he was in F1) sent her through the grass. But it was only an ARCA race and I'm pretty sure she would have had the best car in the field....I think the Nationwide races will be the more telling. But definitely a good start, to even finish the ARCA race at Daytona is an achievement, and to get a good result is even better. |

Good to see Juan helping Danica as others helped him. You're right Yellowflag that Juan was 3rd in his first ARCA race at 'Dega...from memory without the caution he may even have had a shot at the win (might be getting wires crossed with the Cup P2 there).
Seems Danica has decided to bite the bullet and run the Daytona NW race...think that will be much tougher than the ARCA race with a heap of Cup drivers and Cup teams to contend with. A top-15 would be an amazing result in my opinion. |

Thanks nice article. Cool that Juan went to Danica and made her feel welcome in stock cars.
Juan got advice when he came to NASCAR and he is passing it on. How cool is that! _________________

No true, he had a genuine shot at the win if he hadn't had much trouble with cautions.
Danica made a very good impression on the plate track IMO. Unlike Piquet, it looked like he thought he was in a bumper-car race. Nationwide will be diffrerent, I think if she will be able to get into the top 20 there it will be a good result. Scott Speed was very impressive in ARCA and Trucks, but in Cup and Nationwide he couldn't crack a nut. _________________

Unfortunatley for Danica there are now some tracks coming where she will have to drive. And the embarrassments begin... |

My feeling exactly. After the ARCA race everyone said she was going to make the transition just fine, but I can't wait to see what happens to her over her next 3 or 4 races... as diabolical as that sounds. _________________ Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. |

So far Danica looks to be having a shocker of a race - think Michigan June 2008 for the #42 team and multiply it by a factor of 2. Running stone last in P40 and almost taking the leaders out after being lapped within 20 laps.... Given the Hendrick car she has and the fact that this is the Nationwide series it's a pretty horrific performance. |
